Great tips!

I agree that one trip per year isn't enough. But some year we had to just that whenever we went back to Thailand for family visit. I also try to do local things that won't break the bank. I was surprised on how busy we were just trying to do things around town especially Fall activities. I love Fall.. :)

Hey there! Glad to have you along tomorrow for GNO twitter style! You look like YOU could be our expert guest tweet!? Hooray...

No travel for us this fall... Just moved 'nuff said.

But we have these dreams of taking the whole family to Hawaii in 09 or 10?!

(we'll be driving 'home' next summer--but that doesn't count right?)

I should consider number 4. Traveling at this time is a bit expensive, but "staycationing" I think is a great idea. You don't actually have to go anywhere to have an R and R.

Nice entry - and wise.

With regard to number 1, I post every Friday about local things I do with my children that are "mini-adventures" and definitely trips in their minds (and mine).

We've actually got three trips planned in November, non of which should break the back: Washington DC (husband has a conference so hotel room is free), NYC (stay with friends), and Vermont (family Thanksgiving). It's definitely possible with a little creativity to travel cheaply. Part of the way to do this is to seize the moment - be open to saying yes when a friend calls with an offer of an open condo.
