Like most of Southeast Asia, Bali is a swarm of motorbikes weaving in and out of traffic carrying small families. It might have been the sheer numbers or the fact that our border collie is obsessed with them, but, on our trip to Bali, Mirielle became fixated on motorcycles. This was a dangerous fancy as she wanted to climb on every parked bike she found. The tail pipes were scorching hot if recently ridden.
The risk of bodily harm was worth it, as we discovered our first distracting driving game. Long before she was ready for ‘I spy with my little eye” we would point out motorcycles to get her attention. “Look Boo, Motorcycle.” “Look Boo, baby on motorcycle.” “Mirielle, where is the motorcycle?”
This picture was taken while we were walking near the villages of Batuan and Sukawati, outside of a mask carver’s studio. Ketut, one of our escorts, entertained Mirielle on the Motoscooter, while we learned about making Barongs.

What a cutie! It’s always interesting to see what entertains little ones.
Too funny. Hopefully she’ll outgrow her moto-fascination!
Well, if she doesn’t grow out of her motorcycle fascination, she can get info on motorcycle trips for girls from the Wanderluster (who just happens to be a moto-girl).
Cute as a button! She’d make a good Italian — but they are motorinos there. Ciao!
This is my kind of girl!
My kind of girl, too
Thanks for sharing!
Very cute!
What a cutie! I love how you turned her obsession to your advantage
Very sweet pictures.
Maybe someday she’ll be like one of those impossibly chic Italian women. I saw one streering a moto, talking on the phone, and smoking a cigarette – all while wearing stockings and heels.
