Heather--the term they use around here (I'm in the Midwest U.S.) is staycation. We love taking extended trips, but the States' notoriously limited allowable vacation time from work...and the fact that one of us is now officially unemployed makes it difficult. But sometimes even a little day trip does you a world of good.
