What fantastic panoramas - great job!

I can't wait for you to get to the Big Island, I love it there. There's just something about the culture and ambience of the Hawaiian islands that just...fits me, if that makes sense.

I'm with Meg, Crater Lake beats Santorini.
Not to mention that (if you're with kids) the snow on the ground in mid-summer will provide hours of simple fun.
We camped at Crater Lake when my now 12-yr-old was 10 months. Awesome trip. Unfortunately the photos are not digital :(

I love the crater lake picture, that water is so blue!! We have a few volcanoes around this area of Australia too. Undara west of Cairns has a series of long lava tubes and not far from there are two volcanic crater lakes - Lake Eacham and Lake Barrine.

I have been to Santorini and would say Crater Lake is more beautiful, because of 1) the lack of development and 2) the diversity of the terrain around the lake due to volcanic activity an elevation. (Not to knock Santorini too much, especially as it is a much nicer temperature and there is fabulous food. I could definitely spend a month or two there off-season, though prefer Crete.) With the lack of development, you get a real sense of the scale and power of what the earth did.

Beautiful! If you have not been to Santorini, Greece then you must go ( but never in July or August in the European high season).

The caldera there is one of the most breathtaking sites in the world & the wine tasting and vineyards are unique.

We spent a month there June before last & had it all to ourselves for that month...heaven! We fell in love & found it hard to leave.

I can't wait to check out Crater Lake in Oregon and compare. ;)

Thanks for the pictures! We did a family vacation nearby in Sunriver, OR. It was a perfect family destination. Swimming, biking, hiking, animals, horseback riding...they had it all covered.

I haven't been to these places since I was a kid...can't wait to take my little guy. They are beautiful. Haven't tried volcanic wine, thanks for putting that on my radar. Will get to it for sure.
