There are moments when traveling that I want to capture because a picture is worth not only a thousand words, but a thousand sensations and emotions. As I walked away from the Lahore Gate at the Red Fort in Old Delhi, the sun was sinking in the Diwali firecracker hazed sky. In the prematurely evening light, the view down Chandni Chowk was a little slice of urban India: lots of people moving in all directions, lots of traffic moving in all directions, lots of people moving merchandise in all directions (especially towards western tourists), a temples and a gurudwara, and even the greenery which is surprising present throughout Delhi. It’s almost impossible to capture the spirit of India without sound, but the picture caught a big piece of Delhi for me.

Very atmospheric shot. It’s always nice when those magical moments get recorded on film (or photo cards), isn’t it?
Looks enchanting!
I LOVE Chandni Chowk. It’s absolutely the busiest, craziest place on the planet!
Like this a lot. Smell is also important to the Indian sensory experience.
In one of my favorite pictures like this from my own trip to India, there’s a cow walking right toward me in the middle of all these people.
