For such a small town, Saratoga hosts an impressive number of locally owned restaurants, coffee shops and other eateries. There is a flavor, price point and atmosphere for whatever the family is hankerin’ for.

Saratoga Springs: Farmers Market

The taste from the local producer only vendors is the real treat. The Hudson Valley is filled with a growing number of small farms committed to sustainable and heirloom agriculture. The result is some of the tastiest food in the nation (in the opinion of this farmers market shopping, food snob loving, Northern California expatriate.)
Pescadero: How can such a little town produce so much great food?

Half way between Half Moon Bay and Ano Nuevo State Park, California, Pescadero is a popular lunch stop for day trips along the coast. For me, it was edible heaven, calling me back three times during a two day trip for more great eats.

Pescadero Eats: Duarte’s Tavern

After spending the day having fun in Half Moon Bay, we returned to Pescadero for dinner at the over 100 year old, Duarte’s Tavern. This may be California’s answer to diner food and the menu was full of what I would call comfort food.

Pescadero Eats: Norm’s Market

We stopped at the Arcangeli Grocery Co., also known as Norm’s Market, to stock up on provisions for a beach picnic later in the day. Half the food we bought did not make it to the beach.
